D-Day Commemorates
The actions of the 1st Hussars on D-Day are remembered as a key part of Canada’s contribution to the Allied victory in World War II. Their efforts on Juno Beach helped secure one of the most challenging sections of the invasion front and demonstrated the importance of coordination between infantry and armoured units.
The 1st Hussars annual commemoration of D-Day is a solemn event held on or around June 6, recognizing the regiment’s key role in the historic landings at Juno Beach in 1944. Each year, the regiment and association honors the sacrifices of its soldiers and the legacy of the Canadian contribution to the Allied effort in World War II.
